What Is Grok Bot?

Grok Bot is xAI's agent-workforce product, launched in August 2026 in early beta on desktop and iOS. It gives you persistent, named bots, "AI teammates you can give real work to," that sign into the tools you already use, keep working around the clock, and come back when something needs your approval. It has no standalone price: access ships inside six existing plans, SuperGrok Plus and Heavy on xAI's side and Cursor Pro+, Ultra, and both Teams tiers on Cursor's, with enterprise access described as rolling out.

Where Mayura Wins

Their FAQ keeps each bot's conversation and learned role separate; what moves between bots is files, sessions, messages, and handoffs. Grok Bot's compute is xAI's cloud, stated plainly in its own launch post and FAQ, and its public documentation lists no local, on-premises, or private-cloud deployment option. One data-governance answer from one party. Grok Bot's published training posture is a delegation: "Training opt-out follows the applicable Cursor account and privacy settings." The enterprise controls a buyer would evaluate, SSO and SCIM and a SOC 2 Type II report available on request, belong to Cursor rather than to Grok Bot. With Mayura the answer has one owner, because the data does not make the trip.

A boundary you can point at in an audit. xAI states the limitation itself: "Do not use separate Bots as a security boundary," because every bot on an account shares one machine and its logins. That is a reasonable design for a personal team of bots, and xAI is candid about it. It may already be in your stack. Grok Bot ships inside Cursor Pro+, Ultra, and Teams plans and SuperGrok subscriptions, so an entitled team can try it without a purchase decision. We respect that distribution and do not contest it; our conversation starts where the data is too sensitive or too voluminous to ride an individual subscription.

Reach into apps with no API. Bots sign into the tools you already use, explicitly including platforms with no clean API or MCP. That covers surfaces integration-based systems do not reach. The tradeoff is the shared credential pool described above, and it is xAI's own FAQ that names it.

Learning by demonstration. Show a bot a workflow and it saves the routine. Genuinely useful, and orthogonal to a shared knowledge substrate; we do not need to match it to do our job.

Frontier models with a long context. Grok Bot is an xAI product, and xAI's grok-4.6 lists a 500,000-token context window. Mayura is edge-first with cloud routing by choice; the model layer is not where our value lives.

A polished consumer surface. Desktop and iOS apps at launch, group chats with your bots, approvals from your phone. Mayura's surface is an operator dashboard built for workflows, and it assumes a team rather than a person.
